EARTHQUAKES IN MEXICO
Earthquakes in Mexico
I have chosen to talk about earthquakes which are natural disasters in Mexico that is located at the top of three large tectonic plates and that is one of the world's most seismically active regions.
I hope that, later, many people will be saved and there will be less victims.
A 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck off the western coast of Mexico in the Gulf of California on October 19th 2013. The tremor, which started just after 10:54 a.m, was one of the strongest. The epicenter of the quake was 10 kilometers deep in the Sea of Cortez.
Then, in April, last year, a 6.3 magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale struck the region. Next, in June, a 3.1 magnitude earthquake struck the same region.
After that, on August 21, two strong 6.0 magnitude earthquakes on the Richter scale hit central and southern Mexico causing extensive damage. Numerous injuries were reported.
Finally the strongest Mexico earthquake was a magnitude 8.1 on the Richter scale in September 1985. It killed more than 9,500 people.
