KING'S CAKE
I have chosen the “king’s cake” because I like it. I think it’s better than a chocolate cake.
First, King’s cake is a cake celebrating the Epiphany. Today Epiphany means a Christian celebration that celebrates the coming of Messiah in the world. It takes place on January the sixth or the first Sunday of January. This cake is traditionally sold and consumed a few days before and after this date.
After that, King’s cake is a cake of puff pastry, just browned in the oven, eaten with jams. It can also be filled with almond, fruit, cream, chocolate... But there are also cakes with sandblasted pastry in the west. The King’s cake is a brioche with candied fruits.
Finally, King’s cake became an industrial product and has less and less of link with religion.
