The DØ

    Who are they ?

The DØ is a French-Finnish Indie rock band. Created in 2005, they published 3 albums : A Mouthful (2008), Both Ways Open Jaws (2011) and Both Ways Open Jaws Extended (2012).

Olivia Merilahti, the singer and rythmic guitarist, is Finn, but she speaks French and English too. Dan Levy, the bassist and pianist, is French, like Pierre Belleville the drummer or Bastien Burger, the first guitarist.

    Olivia & Dan

    What ?

Dan Levy met Olivia Merilahti in 2005 during the composition of the film music of L'Empire des loups. Then, they created their first work called A Mouthful in January 2008. It was very appreciated by the public, and especially On My Shoulders and At Last!, so they continued and they did a tour around the world. After that, in March 2011, they published a second album called Both Ways Open Jaws. I think it is their best album, more "nocturnal" than the first one : many sound recordings were taken by night. They did a new tour in Europe.

Actually, the band is working on a third album, but they don't give many news.

    Why The DØ ?

The DØ is composed of the initials of their names (Dan and Olivia) and because of the music note Do.

    Why this issue ?

I chose this issue because The Do is my favourite indie rock band, and their music is very original. As I play the drums, I like the drummer's technique.
